Now it turned out that the engine is on the floor of the dealership with the transmission and front axles. The dealership is replacing the camshaft and tensioners under a extended warranty. My reader said it referred to the Turbo Charger Vane Sensor, which I understand to be the sensor to feed the actual position of the exhaust side turbo vanes back to the PCM. Two mechanics told me that I should remove the exhaust pipes and clean the soot out of the variable vane system.
I suspect either vacuum leaks, turbo actuator fault or simply carbo build-up in the turbo/sticking vane because of hard driving/fast cool down/crap tractor diesel. Could be a faulty sensor as well, although the Italian workshop checked all the electrical connections, presumably doing some form of sensor testing with an Ohm meter.
